RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's tennis team opened its fall season on Saturday earning a pair of non-conference victories over NCAA Division III schools at the Ramer Field Tennis Courts on the campus of Wisconsin-River Falls.

SMSU opened the day with a 9-0 win over UW-River Falls and followed with a 5-4 victory over St. Ben's.

SMSU cruised in the win over UWRF with five of the six singles matches won in straight sets.
Courtenay Leonard won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1,
Cora Delich earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2, while
Maja Louisa Harck picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 3.
Abbey Agra notched a 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-0) victory at No. 4, while
Daniela Poulakidas and
Marisol Palacio earned straight set wins at No. 5 and No. 6 respectively.

In doubles play, Leonard and Harck won 8-1 at No. 1, with
Roz Oye and Delick picking up an 8-2 win at No. 2, while Agra and Poulakidas won a hard-fought match, 8-6, at No. 3.

SMSU's second match of the day was much tighter against St. Ben's. Leonard earned a point for the Mustangs with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 1, with Harck also earning a straight sets victory at No. 2 by scores of 6-4, 6-1. Palacio earned the other singles point for SMSU with a 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-5) victory at No. 6. Delich at Poulakidas each lost in three sets, while Agra lost in straight sets.

SMSU earned the victory winning two of three doubles matches. Leonard and Harck won a tight, 8-7 match at No. 1, while Oye and Delich secured an 8-2 victory at No. 2. Palacio and
Skylar Mendro lost at No. 3 by a score of 8-2.
