ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State soccer team (2-7-7 overall, 2-7-4 NSIC) opened their weekend with a 2-1 loss on the road against Concordia-St. Paul (7-5-4, 7-3-3) on Friday night.
For the eighth time in nine matches, the Mustangs struck first, with
Emma Dahnert putting a free kick into the box, finding the head of
Abbey Hoisington, which got to the foot of
Emily Maciel, who bicycled to
Alex Lotts, putting SMSU in front in the 11th minute.
CSP's Nikki Anderson took the game into her own hands, scoring in the 33
rd minute and 79
th minute to lead the Golden Bears to victory.
Rachel Hicks made six saves for the Mustangs, and
Brooke Wetterstrom put a pair of shots on net to lead SMSU.
The Mustangs return to The Schwan Regional Event Center on Sunday, hosting Minnesota State at 1 p.m.
