MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University wheelchair basketball team opens the 2022-23 season this Friday and Saturday hosting Nebraska-Omaha and Wisconsin-Whitewater inside the R/A Facility.
The Mustangs will play two games each day, first taking on Wisconsin-Whitewater on Friday at 3:30 p.m., before closing with Nebraska-Omaha at 7 p.m. UWW and UNO will play each other at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
On Saturday, UWW and SMSU play at 8 a.m. before SMSU closes the day taking on UNO at 3 p.m. UWW and UNO will play for a second time at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday.

Derek Klinkner enters his 10th season on the sideline and has eight players on the roster with five returning letter winners from last season's team that finished 13-12 overall and placed sixth at the national tournament.
The team features two seniors, three sophomores and three freshmen. Sophomore
Emmanuel Fuentes Cervantes is the team's top returning scorer after averaging 18 ppg last season, shooting 60 percent from the field (132 of 220).
