MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State soccer team (1-5-6 overall, 1-5-3 NSIC) opened their weekend with a 3-1 loss on the road against MSU Moorhead (2-7-1, 2-6-1) on Friday afternoon.
For the fifth consecutive match, the Mustangs scored first, with
Alex Lotts netting the opener from
Abbey Hoisington to take the early lead.
MSUM's Jacie Osier scored the equalizer in the late stages of the first half, and the Dragons added a pair of goals in the second half to lead them to victory.
SMSU out-shot the Dragons 11-9, and 8-5 with shots on goal, but Quinn Carter made seven saves in net to secure the win.
Julianne Arballo made three saves for the Mustangs, while Lotts and
Kirsten Wetterstrom each put a pair of shots on net.
The Mustangs conclude their road trip Sunday with a game against Northern State at 1 p.m.
