• The Southwest Minnesota State women's basketball team dropped a heart-breaker on Dec. 16, losing 62-60 to the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears inside the R/A Facility.

Jenna Borchers led all scorers with 21 points, shooting 6 of 9 from the field, 5 of 6 from beyond the arc, and 4 of 4 from the free throw line. She also added five rebounds and a pair of assists.

Sam Wall added nine points,
Bri Stoltzman tallied nine points, five rebounds, two assists, and four steals, and
Peyton Blandin scored nine on 3 of 6 shooting from deep, leading the team with three assists.
Madison Gehloff and
Hannah Parsley led the effort on the glass, grabbing six rebounds apiece.
• The Mustangs bounced back in a big way on Dec. 17, using hot three-point shooting and a career day from Wall to defeat previously undefeated and No. 4-ranked Minnesota State 88-85.
•It was the Mustangs' second ranked victory of the season, and first win over a Top-5 opponent since defeating No. 4 Northern State on Jan. 16, 2015.
• Wall scored a career-high 25 points, going 7 of 10 from the field, 4 of 7 from deep, and 7 of 8 from the free throw line, adding four rebounds.
• Stoltzman was steady for the Mustangs, tallying 16 points, nine boards, and three assists, while Parsley nearly matched her with 15 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Blandin was efficient off the bench for the Mustangs, scoring 13 points on 5 of 7 shooting, including 2 of 3 from beyond the arc.
   FAST BREAK
• The Mustangs have shot at least 50 percent in five of their 12 games this season, ranking 20th in the nation with a 45.5 field goal percentage and 13th with a 37.9 percentage from three-point range on the season.
• SMSU has touted a high-octane offense, ranking 21st in the nation scoring 77.7 points per game, and have turned it over 14.6 times per game, the 55th fewest total in DII.
• SMSU returns eight letter winners from last season.
• SMSU was tabbed 12th overall and sixth in the South Division in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Hannah Parsley and
Bri Stoltzman lead SMSU in scoring with 13.3 ppg, with Parsley adding 5.8 rpg, 24 steals, 23 assists, and seven blocks, while Stoltzman leads the Mustangs with a 54.0 field goal percentage, 6.5 rpg, 33 assists, and is tied with Parsley at 24 steals. Â

Jenna Borchers is third on the team with 12.9 ppg and second on the team with 32 assists.

Sam Wall (12.5 ppg), and
Madison Gehloff (8.8 ppg, 5.7 rpg) round out the starting lineup, with both shooting at least 42 percent from the field. Â

Peyton Blandin has provided a spark off the bench this season, scoring 7.9 points per game, grabbing 3.4 rebounds per game, and shooting 36.6 percent from behind the arc.
•Wall and Borchers have each made 26 three-pointers, with Wall shooting 42.6 percent from deep.
• Both Wall and Borchers (37.9 percent) rank inside the top 100 in the nation in three point percentage and makes. Â
• The Mustangs are 6-1 at home after finishing 10-3 at home last season, their best home win percentage since the 2002-03 season.
• SMSU snapped an 11 game road losing streak earlier this month, earning its first ever Winona/Upper Iowa road sweep.
• Borchers holds the program record for career three-pointers made with 211 makes after breaking the previous record of 199 on Dec. 1.
• Borchers also became the 23rd member of the 1,000 point club on Saturday, Nov. 19 against Northern Michigan.
•SMSU is averaging 77.7 ppg while opponents are averaging 65.0 ppg. SMSU has a plus-3.3 rebounding margin.
•SMSU is shooting 45.5 percent from the field, 37.9 percent from the 3-point line, and 72.4 percent the free-throw line.

   SMSU HEAD COACH TOM WEBB
•
Tom Webb is in his seventh season as head coach with a 66-95 record, including 48-79 in NSIC play.
• Webb is 157-218 overall in his 15th season as head coach at the Division II level after compiling a record of 92-123 in eight seasons (2008-16) as head coach at Cameron University (Okla.).
• SMSU earned their first win over a ranked team since 2018-19 in 2021-22, defeating No. 15-ranked Nebraska-Kearney.
• Webb guided the Mustangs to a 10-3 home record, their best home record since the 2002-03 season and led SMSU to its first home NSIC tournament game since 2005, and first NSIC tournament victory since 2003, ending the season with their first ever tournament game inside the Pentagon.
• Webb recorded his 100th career Division II win against Wisconsin-Parkside (91-83) on Nov. 16, 2018.

   SIOUX FALLS SERIES HISTORY
• SMSU and Sioux Falls will meet for the 41st time with the series level at 20-20 since its inception in 1969.
• The Mustangs defeated USF earlier this season.
•The teams split a pair of games last season, which each team winning on the road.
•USF had won 15 of the last 19 meetings
•SMSU won 11 straight in the series from 1989-90 to 2002-03.

• The Southwest Minnesota State women's basketball team used a balanced attack to lead wire-to-wire in a 72-59 victory over the University of Sioux Falls to open conference play on Nov. 22 inside the R/A Facility.
•
Madison Gehloff reached career-highs with 13 rebounds and five assists, adding seven points to help fuel the Mustangs.
Hannah Parsley scored a career-best 19 points, leading all scorers while tying a career-high with eight rebounds and adding two blocks.
Bri Stoltzman scored 13 points, grabbing nine rebounds and blocking a pair of shots, and
Sam Wall scored 11 points.
Jenna Borchers also reached double figures, scoring 10 points and grabbing four rebounds, and
