KEARNEY, Neb. – Southwest Minnesota State and East Central (Okla.) met on Friday afternoon in a match that resulted in a 0-0 draw on a neutral site to open up the 2022 campaign.
The Tigers went into the half with a 1-0 lead and opened the scoring in the second half to go up 2-0.
Kirsten Wetterstrom opened the scoring for the Mustangs in the second half, netting the first SMSU goal of the season off an assist from
Sydney Johnson. The Mustangs leveled the match when
Selena Prolic connected on a free kick, providing the final goal of the game.
SMSU stays in Kearney for the rest of the weekend, playing host Nebraska-Kearney on Sunday, Aug. 28, at 2 p.m. Live stats and video will be provided.
