BISMARCK, N.D. – Southwest Minnesota State and the University of Mary women's soccer teams met on Sunday afternoon resulting in a 1-0 final in favor of UMary.
The Marauders (6-0-1, 3-0-1 NSIC) defense was stellar throughout, limiting the Mustangs (0-3-4, 0-3-1) attack to just two shots on goal. UMary scored the game winner in the 26th minute off a penalty kick from Jessica Lemmon.
Kirsten Wetterstrom recorded both shots on net for SMSU, while
Julianne Arballo made four saves in net.
Southwest Minnesota State returns home for a match-up with St. Cloud State Friday, Sept. 23 at 3 p.m., before welcoming Minnesota Duluth for a matchup with the Bulldogs on Sunday, Sept. 25.
