KENOSHA, Wis. - The No. 22 ranked Southwest Minnesota State wrestling team fell to the No. 7 ranked Wisconsin-Parkside inside De Simone Arena by a final score of 34-9 on Saturday. 
 
Elijah Sterner had a strong match at 174 pounds as he picked up his first NSIC dual victory of the season with a 7-4 decision over Crosby Schlosser. 
 
Carter Marx continued his strong performance in conference duals, picking up a 3-1 sudden victory in overtime at 197 pounds to improve to 3-1 in conference duals. 
 
Jacob Dykes at 285 pounds picked up yet another win over Lloyd Reynolds, this time by a 4-3 decision. 
 
Caden Steffen, ranked No. 2 at 184, suffered a loss by injury default in overtime.
 
In the extra match Kevin Bostwick secured a fall (6:48) victory over Drake Regenhardt, the third fall victory of the season for Bostwick. 
 
SMSU won three bouts and earned bonus points in one victory, falling to 1-3 overall and 1-3 in the NSIC on the season. 
 
"Today we got out wrestled," said second-year head coach Chayse Jackson. "Against arguably the best team in the conference this year, we picked up some great individual wins. Elijah Sterner won his first dual match, and the rest of our heavy guys got after it and picked up good wins. Although the team score doesn't show it, our guys fought for every point in every match. It's time to have a short memory and come back with a vengeance tomorrow."
 
The Mustangs return to action Sunday when they travel to Fayette, Iowa, to take on No. 10 Upper Iowa.
