SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The SMSU women's soccer team (2-7-1, 2-4-1 NSIC) lost to the University of Sioux Falls (3-5-2, 3-2-2 NSIC) on Sunday afternoon by a final score of 2-1.
The Cougars got out to an early lead after a goal in the third minute by Sara Nelson. USF followed that up with a goal by Julia Kreutner in the 21st minute to go up 2-0.
The Mustangs were able to get on the board with a goal off of a penalty kick by
Selena Prolic in the 32nd minute. The goal was Prolic's first goal of the season.
Rachel Hicks made three saves in the losing effort for the Mustangs.
SMSU will return to action on Friday, Oct. 13 when they return home to take on the Winona State Warriors with kickoff set for 5 p.m. Then, the Mustangs will host the CSP Golden Bears on Sunday with a 1 p.m. kickoff.
