MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University wheelchair basketball team returns to the court this Friday and Saturday with four games in Whitewater, Wis.
SMSU, which is 7-1 on the season, will play the University of Illinois at 8 a.m. and Edinboro University at 12 p.m. on Friday. The weekend concludes on Saturday with an 8 a.m. game versus City University of New York and a 12 p.m. match-up versus Wisconsin-Whitewater.
SMSU lost twice to Illinois last season and are 5-6 in 11 meetings since the 2017-18 season. SMSU has won 11 straight over Edinboro, including winning four times a season ago.
This will be the second meeting between SMSU and UWW this season with the Warhawks winning 64-50 in the championship game of the University of Michigan Tournament on Oct. 1.
SMSU is 2-0 all-time versus CUNY.
The Mustangs last played on Nov. 4, winning a pair of games versus the Minnesota Rolling Timberwolves, 70-43, and 67-44.
Emmanuel Fuentes Cervantes is leading the team in scoring at 29.5 ppg, with
Fermin Wingerter scoring 18.4 ppg and
Joshua Brown adding 16.3 ppg.
