BISMARCK, N.D. - The Southwest Minnesota State wrestling team fell to No. 9 ranked University of Mary Marauders by a final score of 42-3 on Friday night.   
  
UMary jumped out to an early lead, winning 157 and 165 by fall, 174 by major decision and 184 by decision.   
 
The lone victory of the day for the Mustangs came at 197, as No. 3 ranked Caden Steffen faced off with No. 6 ranked Matt Kaylor. The match went to overtime tied at 1-1. Steffen was able to secure a takedown in the first overtime period to secure the sudden victory for the Mustangs.
 
At 285 pounds, #16 Jacob Dykes faced off with #15 Luke Tweeton, this was the second straight match that went to overtime after the third period ended with a score of 1-1. This match would go the Marauders' way, with Luke Tweeton securing a takedown and a near fall in overtime to secure the sudden victory for UMary.
 
UMary won at 125 by tech fall, 133 by fall, 141 by major decision and 149 by fall.

"Tonight we put 6 guys out who had never been in the starting lineup," said third-year head coach Chayse Jackson. "They fought and continued to attack the entire time. The score does not reflect the effort that those guys put in. But hats off to UMary. They were ready and wrestled well. We will take the night to wipe the slate clean and walk into tomorrow with a 0-0 mindset. Every match, every position, every point. On to tomorrow!" 

UP NEXT - The Mustangs will travel to Minot State for a dual meet tomorrow before heading to Moorhead on Sunday for the MSU Moorhead Dragon Open.
