Ansen Dulas has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Central Region Pitcher of the Week on Wednesday.
Dulas, a right-hander from Mayer, Minn., was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
Dulas earned the region honor after allowing just one hit over seven innings in a 7-0 win over Concordia-St. Paul on March 10. He struck out seven batters in the game and retired 13 straight hitters from the second through sixth innings. He faced just one batter over the minimum in his seven innings of work, while firing just 80 pitches, including 52 for strikes.
In his first start of the season on March 5 versus Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.), Dulas pitched seven innings, allowing just two hits and one unearned run with six strikeouts and two walks.
In his two starts this season, Dulas has allowed just one unearned run in 14 innings on three hits and three walks, while striking out 13.
In his three-year career, Dulas has appeared in 17 games with 14 starts and is 4-2 with a 5.52 ERA in 76 2/3 innings with 88 strikeouts.
SMSU is 8-2 on the season and off to its best start since the 2009 season. The Mustangs are scheduled to open NSIC play this weekend with a three-game series at Augustana University.
