WHITEWATER, Wis. – The No. 8 seed Southwest Minnesota State University wheelchair basketball team opened play at the National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball Tournament on Thursday morning with a convincing 77-28 victory over No. 9 seed Edinboro University (Pa.).
SMSU, now 10-5 overall, will now face No. 1 seed the University of Arizona on Thursday with game time set for 4 p.m. SMSU lost to Arizona in Marshall on March 3 by a score of 81-63.
In Thursday's opening victory,
Joshua Brown poured in a game-high 30 points with teammate
Emmanuel Fuentes Cervantes scoring 24 points, while
Kendrick Newton added 10.
Brown connected on 14 of 17 shots, while Fuentes Cervantes made 11 of 15 field goals.
