BURNSVILLE, Minn. - The 2023 NSIC Baseball Tournament bracket is set as regular season play concluded on Sunday. The top eight teams in the final regular season standings will participate in the double-elimination tournament, which will be held May 10-13 at Veterans Memorial Ballpark at BNC Field in Mandan, N.D., and Municipal Ballpark at Dakota Community Bank & Trust Field in Bismarck, N.D. hosted by the University of Mary.
Southwest Minnesota State, making its first appearance in the tournament since 2014, earned the No. 5 seed and will take on No. 4 seed St. Cloud State on Wednesday in Bismarck with first pitch at 12 p.m. SCSU defeated SMSU twice during the regular season on March 23 in Elkhorn, Neb., by scores of 6-3 and 4-1.

SMSU has won four NSIC Tournament championships (1996, 1997, 1999, 2002), including three under head coach
Paul Blanchard, and has finished as tournament runner-up on four occasions (1998, 2000, 2005, 2010).

The winner of the NSIC Baseball Tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Central Region Tournament. The 39-team NCAA Central Region is made up of teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and the Great American Conference (GAC). Automatic bids are awarded to the tournament champions from each conference with the final five spots awarded on an at-large basis.
