MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State wrestling team lost a dual to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers by a score of 36-11 on Friday night in the PE gym. 
 
The Rangers showed why they have been among the nation's best this season, defeating the Mustangs in each of the first eight matches.
 
Caden Steffen put the Mustangs on the board with a dominant tech fall victory over Tunde Oroye. Steffen earned five takedowns in the third period to win by a score of 19-4.
 
Jacob Dykes matched up with Lloyd Reynolds, who is currently ranked No. 13 in the Open Mat rankings at heavyweight. Dykes managed a fall victory over Reynolds in the third period.

"Parkside proved tonight why they are a top 5 program, props to them." Said third-year head coach Chayse Jackson, "nonetheless, I was proud of the fight of our guys. Nobody backed down, nobody quit. We had freshman taking on some of the best in the country, but continuing to attack and look to score. Our older guys did their job and did it well. It's a testament to how far this program has come. I also want to thank all the fans who came out tonight. I am sure they enjoyed the dual and I am pumped to see the stands fill every night! The PE Gym has become a dangerous place for anyone to come wrestle. They are part of our growth. Let's Ride!"
