MANKATO, Minn. – The No. 10 SMSU volleyball team falls to Minnesota State in five sets by scores of 25-21,19-25, 23-25, 28-26, 7-15 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference volleyball on Wednesday night.
MSU improves to 15-6 overall and 7-6 NSIC while SMSU drops to 18-4 overall, 9-4 NSIC.
Emma VanHeel led the Mustang offense with 17 kills on .424 hitting,
Leah Jones swung for 13 kills including 22 digs on defense.
Karli Arkell posted 11 kills on .167 hitting with three block assists. Saari Kuel and
Ashley Peltier both swung for 10 kills on the night.
Sydney Thein supported the attack with 52 set assists and three service aces.
McKenzie Tolk led the defense with a match-high 32 digs. Thein chipped in on defense with 24 digs.
Emma Loveall led the Mavericks attack with 23 kills on .317 hitting percentage. Avery Klein followed with 20 kills and Toryn Richards added 11 kills. Brooke Bolwerk set 61 assists to support the offense while posting 17 digs.
SMSU returns to the PE gym this Saturday, Nov. 2 with a match against Sioux Falls (12-8, 7-5 NSIC) with first serve set for 2 p.m.
