MARSHALL, Minn. - The No. 16 Mustang volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep over Minnesota Crookston by set scores of 25-12, 25-14, 25-12 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action on Friday evening.
SMSU improves to 20-4 in the year and 11-4 in NSIC play. UMC drops to 7-16 overall and 4-11 in the conference.
SMSU was led by
Leah Jones with 13 kills on .300 hitting and nine digs.
Emma VanHeel supported the attack with 10 kills on .429 hitting and four block assists, while
Saari Kuehl swung for nine kills.
Sydney Thein supported the attack with 31 set assists and helped defensively with 12 digs, enough for a double-double.
McKenzie Tolk was the anchor for the Mustangs on the back line, tallying 16 digs.
UMC was led offensively by Carizma Muth, who batted down nine kills on .120 hitting. Kailee Waasdorp added 11 digs on defense.
The Mustangs continue play tomorrow (Saturday) with a match against Bemidji State, with first serve set for 2p.m.
