MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday night to No. 19 Concordia-St. Paul by a score of 72-58.

SMSU drops to 8-1 overall, 2-1 NSIC, while CSP remains unbeaten at 9-0, 3-0 NSIC.

Audrey Swanson each scored 13 points for the Mustangs with Swanson also grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds.
Maddie Thorfinnson also reached double figures in scoring with 12 points with three 3-pointers.

SMSU finished the night shooting just 33 percent (19 of 57), including 6 of 21 from 3-point range.

CSP closed the game shooting 38 percent (25 of 66) with four 3-pointers in 12 attempts. The Golden Bears took advantage of 18 Mustang turnovers to hold a 22-10 scoring advantage in points off turnovers. CSP also outscored SMSU, 36-22, in points in the paint.

SMSU, which led 34-30 at halftime, was outscored 24-15 in the third quarter and then scored just nine points in the final 10 minutes while making just 2 of 14 field goals.
