MARSHALL, Minn. – The No. 2 seed UW-Whitewater jumped to an early lead and never looked back in defeating No. 7 seed Southwest Minnesota State, 81-59, in the quarterfinals of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association tournament inside the PE Gym.
SMSU drops to the consolation bracket and will face CUNY on Friday morning starting at 10 a.m. inside the R/A Facility. UWW moves to the semifinals and will take on Alabama at 4 p.m.
UWW shot 55 percent from the field in the game, while limiting SMSU to 45 percent shooting. The Warhawks held a 39-29 rebound advantage.
Thomas Oberst, who registered a triple-double with a game-high 37 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds, paced UWW, while Evan Oberst poured in 28 points with 13 rebounds.
Joshua Brown led SMSU with 24 points on 11 of 19 shooting with teammate
Emmanuel Fuentes Cervantes chipping in with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Genaro Perez added nine points on 4 of 9 shooting.
