MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State wheelchair basketball team had its season come to an end on Friday night suffering a 63-50 loss to Auburn University in the consolation round of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association tournament inside the R/A Facility.
SMSU, the No. 7 seed in the 11-team tournament, finishes the tournament with a 2-2 record and ends the season with a 19-9 overall mark.
Joshua Brown poured in a team-high 16 points with 15 rebounds to lead the Mustangs, while teammate
Emmanuel Fuentes Cervantes recorded a triple-double with 15 rebounds, 12 points and 12 assists.
Fermin Wingerter was the third Mustang to score in double figures with 12 points on six field goals.
SMSU closed the game shooting 37 percent (23 of 62) with two 3-pointers on 11 attempts.
Auburn finished the game committing just four turnovers while shooting 46 percent (27 of 59).
