WAYNE, Neb. – The Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs women's soccer team were defeated Friday afternoon by the Wayne State Wildcats by a score of 4-0.
The Mustangs were outshot by the Wildcats 19-9, with 11 on target for Wayne State, and five on target for SMSU.
Jada Backes led the Mustangs with two shots and was one of five players with a shot on target for the team.
Wayne State's Reagen Allen opened the scoring in the match in the 10
th minute, and the score remained 1-0 going into halftime.
The Wildcats then scored two goals inside a three-minute span in the second half, and Abby Evers added a fourth goal in the 74
th minute.
SMSU goalkeeper
Kennady Krebs made seven saves in the match, while Wayne State goalkeeper Alexa Hofstetter made three saves and was credited with a clean sheet.
