MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's soccer team (2-6, 1-4 NSIC) were defeated this afternoon 2-0 by the No. 2 ranked Minnesota State Mavericks (7-0-1, 5-0 NSIC).
The Mavericks outshot the Mustangs 32-6, with Minnesota State shooting 11 of those on target, while SMSU had four shots on target.
The Mustangs held firm defensively the first half, and while being outshot 14-4 in the half, kept the score 0-0 going into the break.
In the 66
th minute, Mila Rustin hit the post from close range and the ball ricochet straight back to her, resulting in a nearly open goal, and put the ball in the back of the net giving the Mavericks the lead.

th minute doubled the Mavericks lead, assisted by Courtney Kovacs with a long through ball.
The Mavericks had eight corner kicks in the match, while the Mustangs had zero.

Kennady Krebs made nine saves in the match, while Maverick goalkeeper Lauren McAlpine made four saves, and kept the Mavericks eight game clean sheet streak alive.
