MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's soccer team (2-6, 1-5 NSIC) lost Sunday afternoon to the St. Cloud State Huskies (6-0-3, 4-0-2 NSIC) 2-0.
The Huskies outshot the Mustangs 14-8 on the match, with nine on target for St. Cloud, and three on target for SMSU.
St. Cloud State scored their first goal in the 35
th minute from Delaney Weier, her first goal on the season, and was assisted by Jordan Kardelis.
The Huskies doubled their lead early in the second half courtesy of Linsey Trapino, her fourth of the season, and was assisted again by Jordan Kardelis.
Brooke Wetterstom and
Sophia Wilson led the Mustangs in shots with two each.
Goalkeeper
Stella Litzen made seven saves in the match, while Huskies goalkeeper Jaylee Strickland kept a clean sheet with three saves.
The Mustangs travel to North Dakota next Friday to face Jamestown (1-7, 1-5 NSIC) on Oct. 10, at 2:30 p.m. They then travel to Aberdeen, S.D., to face Northern State (1-6-2, 1-3-2 NSIC) on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. Both games are available to watch on the NSIC Network.
