Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

SMSU soccer overwhelmed by Concordia-St. Paul Sunday afternoon

MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's soccer team was defeated Sunday afternoon by the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears by a score of 6-0.

The Golden Bears outshot the Mustangs 31-5, with 20 shots on goal for CSP and one for SMSU. The lone shot on goal for the Mustangs was by Brooke Wetterstrom, and she led the team in total shots with two.

Concordia-St. Paul started the match scoring twice in the first eight minutes courtesy of McKayla Stockness and Sophia King. Ava Hopper scored the third of the first half for the Golden Bears, and went into halftime up 3-0.

Stella Nielsen scored the fourth for the Golden Bears in the 66th minute, while Madison Balashaitis scored the fifth in the 76th minute. Ava Hopper scored her second, and the final goal of the match, in the 83rd minute.

Goalkeeper Kennady Krebs made 14 saves, the most in a match for a Mustangs goalkeeper since 2018.

The Mustangs end their season next Thursday, Nov. 6 against Sioux Falls at 1 p.m. at The Schwan Regional Event Center. The match will be streaming live on the NSIC Network. Tickets and more information can be found at smsumustangs.com/sports/womens-soccer.
