WAYNE, Neb. – The Southwest Minnesota State cross country teams competed on Friday at the Wayne State Wildcat Classic held at Wayne Country Club. Both races were ran at shorter distances due to warm temperatures.
Madison Marco led the SMSU women's team with a third-place finish in the 3,600-meter race with a time of 14:35, while teammate
Kyra Kusnierek finished in 11
th place with a time of 15:21.
Kirsten Koopal ran 15:36 to earn 15
th place,
Kaitlin Olson closed with a time of 17:19,
Sophia Nelson ran 17:51,
Malayna Hemmen finished at 18:38, while
Lila Bungarden recorded a time of 19:06.
In the men's 4,200-meter race,
Matthew Groebner paced the way for the Mustangs finishing in eighth place at 14:14.
Roel Palomo was right behind in 10
th pace at 14:16 with
Dylan Ommen running 14:21 to place 13
th.
Gavin O'Connell ran 14:38 for 16
th with
Carter Schwalbe running 14:56 to finish 20
th.
Logan Roelofs placed 23
rd at 15:04,
Elliott Hoffman was 31
st at 15:33,
Noah Christensen finished 34
th at 16:04, while
Daniel Olson ended in 36
th at 16:44.
SMSU continues competition on Oct. 11 at the Dordt Classic in Sioux Center, Iowa.
