Swanson earns NSIC South Division Player of the Week accolades

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Southwest Minnesota State University women's basketball senior Audrey Swanson has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference South Division Player of the Week on Monday following her play in two Mustang victories this past weekend.
 
A 5-foot-11, forward from Waconia, Minn., Swanson had a big weekend averaging 20 points and 12 rebounds, while shooting 56 percent (13 of 23) with four 3-pointers.
 
In SMSU's 92-73 victory over Minot State on Friday, Swanson scored 12 points on 5 of 11 shooting with two 3-pointers, while grabbing a team-high eight rebounds and recording two assists, one blocked shot and one steal.
 
On Saturday night, Swanson poured in a game-high 28 points on 8 of 12 shooting, connecting on two 3-pointers, while making 10 of 11 from the free throw line. She pulled down a season-high 16 rebounds, recorded two assists, one blocked shot and one steal.
 
For the season, Swanson is averaging a team-high 16.9 points per game, while shooting 43 percent (103 of 240) from the field. She is tied for the team lead in assists (45) and ranks second in rebounding (8.0).
 
A 2022 graduate of Waconia High School, Swanson has played in 100 career games with 49 starts and has scored 905 points, while shooting 47 percent (348 of 736) from the field with 70 3-pointers. She has also racked up 504 rebounds, 110 assists and 68 steals.
 
SMSU, 10-7 overall, 8-4 NSIC, continues home play this weekend taking on MSU Moorhead on Friday at 5:30 p.m. before facing Minnesota Crookston on Saturday for 'Tropical Night' starting at 5 p.m. The Mustangs have won five of their last six games.
