MARSHALL, Minn. – Southwest Minnesota State University Athletics has announced that seven individuals and one team have been selected for induction into the SMSU Athletics Hall of Honor on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2027. The SMSU Athletics Hall of Honor is the highest athletic distinction awarded by the University.
 
The newest SMSU Athletics Hall of Honor members are former women's soccer player Miranda Cadena (2012-15); volleyball player Mary Groth (2009-12); golfer KC Kane (2008-12); wrestler Justin Reinsma (2009-14); football player Tyler Tonderum (2010-14); the 2013 women's soccer team; former baseball coach Paul Blanchard (1997-2023) and former assistant AD/Senior Woman Administrator Rolly Muller (1986-2015).
 
Complete bios of the inductees will be released later.
 
The SMSU Athletics Hall of Honor banquet, which will be held at the SMSU Upper-Level Conference Center in Marshall, will begin at 11 a.m. with a half-hour social, followed by lunch and the induction ceremonies beginning at 11:30 a.m. Ticket information will be announced in December.
 
An 11-member committee chose the inductees from a group of nominations. The new inductees bring the membership in SMSU's Athletic Hall of Honor to 136 individuals/couples and 18 teams.
