Wheelchair basketball earns sixth seed for national tournament

SMSU opens play on April 1 versus Eastern Washington

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The National Wheelchair Basketball Association has announced the official bracket for next week's National Wheelchair Intercollegiate Basketball Men's Tournament hosted by the University of Arizona on April 1-4. Games will be played inside the McKale Center.
 
SMSU (11-9) has earned the No. 6 seed and will take on No. 11 seed Eastern Washington University on Wednesday, April 1, at 10 p.m. CDT. If SMSU wins, they would play on Thursday, April 2, at 4 p.m. CDT, if the Mustangs lose their first game they would play on Friday, April 3, at 11 a.m. CDT.
 
The 12-team tournament will open on Wednesday, April 1, with four games, five games will take place on Thursday, April 2, with five more held on Friday, April 3. The third-place and national championship games will be held on Saturday, April 4.
 
SMSU and EWU have not played this year but did play twice last season with SMSU earning two victories. SMSU is 5-0 all-time versus EWU.
 
The University of Alabama is the No. 1 seed in this season's tournament.
 
The University of Arizona won the national championship a season ago held in Champaign, Ill.
 
SMSU, which finished third at last season's national tournament, has won three national titles in program history in 1981, 1983 and 1986.
