Colin Konicek is in his first season as an assistant coach with the SMSU baseball program in 2025.
Konicek comes to SMSU after serving as the Director of Baseball Operations at Utah Valley University during the 2024 season. He has also coached high school baseball in Iowa for three seasons including at Mount Vernon High School in 2022 and Pleasant Valley High School in 2023 and 2024. Pleasant Valley won the Mississippi Athletic Conference in 2023 and advanced to the state tournament in 2024.
Konicek was a four-year member of the Cornell College (Iowa) baseball program. He started 74 games his last two seasons batting .268 with 67 base hits and 31 RBIs.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from Cornell in 2023 with a degree in kinesiology.
