Trevor Paine is in his second season as an assistant coach at SMSU in 2016.
Paine came to SMSU after spending two seasons as a volunteer coach at NCAA Division I Sacramento State University. In 2014, the Hornets won 40 games and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history.
Paine was a four-year letterwinner at Sacramento State, twice earning All-WAC second team honors. As a senior in 2012, he batted .308 with 13 doubles and three home runs with 32 RBIs, helping lead the Hornets to the WAC regular season championship. He began his collegiate career as a pitcher, before an injury forced him to play first base, outfield and designated hitter.
