Brittani Wiese is in her sixth season as an assistant coach for the SMSU women's basketball program in 2021-22.
SMSU has improved in both overall and conference victories in each of her first four seasons, including recording the program’s first winning season in 10 years in 2019-20. SMSU finished 9-5 during the abbreviated 2020-21 season and just missed by percentage points in qualifying for the eight-team NSIC Tournament. It was the program's first back-to-back winning seasons since 2001-02 and 2002-03.Â
In 2019-20, SMSU closed with a 16-12 overall record, notching its first winning season since 2009-10, while the 16 victories was the program’s highest total since the 2004-05 season. Â

Wiese came to SMSU after spending two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Northern State University (2014-16). During her tenure at NSU, the Wolves were a combined 49-15 overall, including 33-11 in NSIC games, while making a pair of NCAA tournament appearances.

Wiese, a native of Albertville, Minn., was a four-year standout at the University of Minnesota Crookston. She garnered NSIC All-Freshman team honors in 2010, was a second team All-NSIC honoree in 2012 and twice was named UMC’s most valuable player. She closed her career scoring 1,204 points, ranking sixth in team history, while her 261 assists ranks fourth all-time.

Wiese earned her bachelor’s degree in sports and recreation management from UMC in 2013 and earned her master’s degree from NSU in sports performance and leadership in 2016.
