BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The USA Junior's National wheelchair basketball team has announced that Southwest Minnesota State's
Kyle Timmerman is among 24 players that have been invited to attend the U-23 trials at the Lakeshore Foundation in Birmingham, Ala. The tryouts run from April 2 to 4.
USA head coach Jim Glatsch will be joined by assistant coaches Miles Thompson, David Kiley and a selection committee to select 12 players that will represent USA on the U-23 team, which includes players that are 23-years-old or younger.
Current SMSU co-head coach Paul Weiland has been asked to be a part of the selection committee. He led the Mustangs to a 10-17 record and seventh-place national finish this past season.
Timmerman, a freshman from Minneota, Minn., finished his 2008-09 campaign averaging 9.1 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.
Timmerman and Weiland are scheduled to fly out on Wednesday.
