OMAHA, Neb. - Southwest Minnesota State got 18 points from
Tori Fink and 14 from
Laura Kramer to move its winning streak to three in a row on Saturday afternoon and pick up a 70-51 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State at the Nebraska-Omaha Classic in Omaha, Neb.
SMSU improves to 3-1, while OPSU drops to 2-5.
The Mustangs connected on 11 three-pointers, six of them coming from Fink.
Megan Stadler also drilled three and finished in double figures with 11 points.
SMSU outscored OPSU 44-29 in the second half after holding just a four-point advantage at the break.
The flurry of second half points was sparked by a 10-1 run by the Mustangs to open the half. SMSU built leads of 19 twice with just under two minutes remaining when
Heather Smith drained a three-pointer to make it 65-46 with 2:41 remaining and when
Tori Fink connected on a three-pointer of her own 40 seconds later to give her squad a 68-49 advantage.
SMSU shot 35.5 percent from behind the arc in the win.
The Mustangs will open conference play next Saturday, Dec. 5, facing defending NSIC and NCAA champion Minnesota State, Mankato. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. in Mankato.
