MARSHALL, Minn. -  The Southwest Minnesota State University athletics department will be hosting “Military Appreciation Day”, this Saturday, Sept. 12, when the SMSU football team hosts the University of Minnesota Duluth at the Regional Event Center.  Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.  The game is also the annual Shrine Game, sponsored by local members of the Shriners.

All military personnel – active, retired or reserve – will receive a free ticket to the game with valid identification or proof of service.  Tickets may be picked up at any entrance gate on Saturday.

Along with honoring military personal, the local National Guard will have military vehicles on display, a rock climbing wall, fire truck and camo equipment from the military.  There will also be opportunities for individuals to record video messages for troops overseas.
