Mustang Men's Hoops falls to Alumni on “Andy Wiersma Day” at SMSU

MARSHALL, Minn. -
The Southwest Minnesota State men's basketball team opened its exhibition season tonight on “Andy Wiersma Day” at SMSU in a game against its alumni. The SMSU Alumni team battled out a 66-62 win over the 2010-11 Mustangs in their first showing of the season.

Seniors Taylor Huseby and Scott Roehl led the Mustangs with 13 points each. Huseby was six of 10 from the floor. The senior picked up two offensive and three defensive rebounds for the Mustangs. Roehl was five of 11 from the floor and shot 50 percent from the free throw line. He led the Mustangs with eight rebounds in the exhibition game. 

Lavione West finished the game with 10 points and two defensive boards. The Mustangs shot 42.1 percent in the first half while the Alumni shot 34.6 percent. SMSU led 38-30 at the half.

Former Mustangs Jacob Fahl and Ryan Krome were the top scorers for the Alumni team each picking up 12 points.

Southwest Minnesota State will continue its exhibition season on Wednesday, Nov. 10, when they host Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) at 7 p.m. at the R/A Facility.
