SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Southwest Minnesota State University sophomore football player Ben Bundy died this morning in Sioux Falls, S.D., of a brain aneurysm he suffered on Friday, Feb. 12, in Marshall, Minn.

Bundy, 20, a native of Madison, S.D., and an offensive lineman for the Mustang football program, fell unconscious in the SMSU PE Gym on Friday morning.  Bundy was transported to Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center before being airlifted to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., where he spent the past six days.

“Ben was a great young man that was blessed with the ability to touch the people around him in a meaningful way,” said SMSU head football coach Eric Eidsness.  “Ben will be greatly missed by all who had the opportunity to know him.  We send our thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.”

Ben is the son of Keith and Peg Bundy.
