MARSHALL, Minn. - A total of six members of the Southwest Minnesota State University football team earned spots on the 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team announced on Tuesday.

Mason Carver, senior
Gideon Ervasti, senior
Josiah Hedensten, sophomore
Malachi Kohls and sophomore
Aiden Planer.

The 2025 Academic All-District® football teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. All honorees must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Auten, a wide receiver from Sioux Falls, S.D., finished second on the team with 38 receptions for 576 yards and four touchdowns in 11 games. He is an accounting and finance major.

Carver, a punter/kicker from Cherokee, Iowa, earns CSC Academic All-District accolades for the second straight season. He appeared in all 11 games, averaging 39.5 yards per punt. He had 14 punts of 50 or more yards and closed with 16 inside the opponents' 20-yard line. Carver is pursuing a degree in marketing, management and finance.Â

Ervasti, a linebacker from Verndale, Minn., is a two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree. A business management major, he started all 11 games and recorded 78 tackles with two sacks.

Hedensten, a linebacker from Faribault, Minn., earns CSC Academic All-District for the third straight year. Named All-NSIC South Division first team this past season, he started all 11 games for the fourth straight season and led the team in tackles for the third straight season with 117, while ranking tied for first in tackles for loss (6.5). Hedensten is a justice administration major.Â

Kohls, a defensive lineman from Mankato, Minn., played all 11 games and finished with 18 tackles with three for loss. He is an applied computational mathematics major.

Planer, a linebacker from Lincoln, Neb., played in all 11 games and closed with 31 tackles and tied for the team lead with 6.5 tackles for loss. He is a sports management major. Â

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
