Mustangs Resume Non-Conference Action with 10 Games in Seven Days in Central Florida

THIS WEEK:
The Southwest Minnesota State University baseball team (2-1, 0-0 NSIC) returns to action on Sunday, March 7, when it begins a 10-game, seven-day non-conference road trip at the RussMatt Invitational near Orlando, Fla.  The Mustangs will have four doubleheaders and a pair of nine-inning games during the week in the Florida cities of Winter Haven, Lakeland and Auburndale.
    SMSU will open its schedule on Sunday, March 7, with a doubleheader versus Concordia, St. Paul starting at 9:30 a.m. EST at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Fla.  On Monday, March 8, SMSU takes on Ashland (Ohio) for a 12:30 p.m. EST doubleheader in Auburndale.  Following an off day on Tuesday, March 9, the Mustangs return to action on March 10 with a single nine-inning game starting at 10 a.m. EST versus Slippery Rock (Pa.) at Henley Field in Lakeland, Fla.  On Thursday, March 11, SMSU will face Grand Valley State (Mich.) for a doubleheader starting at 12:30 p.m. EST at Chain of Lakes Park in Winter Haven, before taking on Nebraska-Omaha for its final doubleheader on Friday, March 12, at 9:30 a.m. EST in Auburndale.  The Mustangs will conclude the trip with a single nine-inning game versus Concordia, St. Paul starting at 9 a.m. EST in Winter Haven, Fla.
    This season marks the first-ever spring trip for SMSU baseball in central Florida and will be the first time since 1997 that the team hasn't played in Ft. Myers, Fla.
