THIS WEEK: The Southwest Minnesota State University men's basketball team will take time off for the holidays before returning to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play on Jan. 2-3.  SMSU (5-5, 4-2 NSIC) will face the University of Minnesota, Crookston (4-5, 0-5 NSIC) on Monday, Jan. 2, starting at 8 p.m., before taking on Minnesota State University Moorhead (9-0, 5-0 NSIC) on Tuesday, Jan. 3, with tip-off slated for 8 p.m.  SMSU, coming off a 73-67 victory over Upper Iowa on Dec. 17, will have 15 days between games, before returning to action on Jan. 2.  All NCAA Division II teams must have off from any practices and games between Dec. 20-26, per NCAA rules.
