SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana's Deryk Marks tossed six shutout innings and the Vikings opened a scoreless game with seven third-inning runs to earn a 16-0 non-conference victory over Southwest Minnesota State on Wednesday. The game was added to each team's schedule on Tuesday.
The Vikings (10-8) finished the game with 13 hits with Charlie Dubanoski and Kye Winter each collecting three RBIs. Winter also finished with a game-high three hits. Marks allowed just two hits while striking out eight and walking one.
It's SMSU's worst loss since losing to Wayne State 28-12 at the 2009 NCAA tournament.
Augustana opened a scoreless game in the third inning pushing across seven runs on six hits off of relievers

Nate Dickhausen.
Chris Koep started on the mound for SMSU (4-7) and tossed two shutout innings with three strikeouts. SMSU used nine pitchers in the game with Schmidt suffering the loss. SMSU pitchers combined to walk six and hit five Viking batters.

SMSU will open Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action this weekend taking on the University of Mary in a four-game series in Sioux City, Iowa, at Sioux City North High School. Saturday's doubleheader begins at 1:30 p.m., while Sunday's twinbill begins at 12 p.m.
