SMSU pulls out 72-64 victory over the Alumni

MARSHALL, Minn. - Jordan Miller recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead SMSU to a 72-64 victoy over the SMSU Alumni team on Saturday as part of "Andy Wiersma Day" at SMSU.

Nick Smith added 14 points and six rebounds, while Lavione West chipped in with nine points.

Undre Ellis led the Alumni team with 14 points on 6 of 8 shooting with Matt Fletcher adding 12 points.

It was a tight game throughout, with SMSU leading for much of the first 30 minutes, but the Alumni rallied back and built a 62-59 lead with two minutes and 49 minutes remaining.

The Alumni led 64-62 with two minutes left, before West converted a three-point play to put SMSU on top 65-64 with 1:44 remaining.  Miller then added a 3-pointer, his third of the night, to give SMSU a 68-64 lead with 55 seconds remaining, before hitting a pair of free throws with 33 seconds left to seal the victory.

SMSU will continue exhibition play on Monday, Nov. 5, hosting St. Olaf College.
