The Southwest Minnesota State University women's basketball team will travel to take on Division I opponent Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks on Sunday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Nebraska-Omaha - The Mavs enter Wednesday's game with a 3-0 record. Omaha has scored 79 points in consecutive games, by far the most its scored against Division I opponents since its transition. The Mavs' three-game winning streak is its longest since a four-game winning streak from Dec. 1-10, 2011.
Saint Louis enters with an 0-3 record after three road losses at Missouri, Kansas City and No. 11 Oklahoma. Although the Billikens have failed to win a game in three tries under first-year coach Lisa Stone, Saint Louis has four starters and nine letterwinners back from last year's team.
Southwest Minnesota State is 1-3 and is coming off its first win of the season, a 59-56 victory over Missouri Valley on Nov. 17. Prior to that, the Mustangs had a rough go against three teams from the Mavs' former conference, the MIAA. SWMSU lost to Pittsburg State, Missouri Southern and Northwest Missouri State by an average margin of 34 points.
Senior guard Paige Frauendorfer leads the Mavs in scoring (16.7 ppg) and rebounding (9.0 rpg). Senior point guard Jamie Nash runs the Maverick offense with 13.0 ppg, 10.0 apg and 5.0 spg. Senior transfer Carolyn Blair-Mobley adds 12.0 ppg and 8.3 rpg. Junior college transfer Ericka House comes off the bench to chip in 13.0 ppg and is shooting 50.0 percent (11-of-22) from 3-point range. The Mavs are shooting 48.5 percent (82-of-169) from the floor and 40.4 percent (21-of-52) from long distance. UNO is averaging 72.0 points per game after averaging 64.6 last season.
LAST WEEKEND RECAP
The Mustangs split two games at the Winstead-Reeves Classic, hosted by Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Mo. on Thursday and Friday Nov. 16-17. In its first game, SMSU faced Northwest?Missouri State and fell to the Bearcats 93-46. SMSU was led by
Bree Holleman's 16 points, she was the lone Mustang to reach double-digits. Holleman also led SMSU with five boards.
Poor shooting and turnovers were what spelled disaster for SMSU as the Mustangs shot just 17 of 52 from the floor, icluding 5-17 from behind the arch and committed 27 turnovers. The Bearcats converted 29 points out of SMSU's 27 turnovers. The Bearcats were also dominant on the glass as NWMS out-rebounded SMSU 48-23, including 18-7 on offensive rebounds.

Hope Bonlander led three SMSU scorers in double figures with 13 points on 5 of 6 shooting, while
Bree Holleman added 11 points and
Rebekah Rolling chipped in with 10 points. SMSU finished the night shooting 48 percent (21 of 44) from the field, including 5 of 12 from 3-point range. The Mustangs held a 38-33 rebound advantage, but committed 25 turnovers in the victory.
