THIS WEEK - Southwest Minnesota State University (4-4, 1-0 NSIC) opens its first road trip of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference season on Friday, Dec. 7, taking on Augustana College (5-0, 1-0 NSIC) with tip-off slated for 8 p.m. at the Elmen Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. SMSU will then face Wayne State College (5-1, 0-1 NSIC) on Saturday, Dec. 8, at Rice Auditorium in Wayne, Neb., with tip-off slated for 6 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT - Southwest Minnesota State used a 15-2 run in the second half to pull away for a 70-60 home victory over the University of Sioux Falls last Saturday night. SMSU shot 62 percent in the second half, including connecting on 4 of 5 3-point field goals and also made 15 of 17 free throws in the final 20 minutes.
Jordan Miller scored a team-high 16 points for SMSU with a pair of 3-pointers, while
Lavione West added 13 points on 4 of 5 shooting and six rebounds off the bench. SMSU limited USF to just 36 percent shooting from the field and held a 34-25 rebound advantage.
