The Mustangs dominated in the first half, building a 50-28 halftime lead, shooting 57 percent from the field.

UMD wouldn't go away and made a big comeback in the second half, trimming the SMSU lead to 62-57 with nine minutes and 57 seconds left in the game.  SMSU then put together a decisive 9-1 run in the next three minutes to push the lead to 71-58 with 6:53 left following a pair of Miller free throws and the lead never dipped below double digits the remainder of the game.

SMSU trailed 10-9 at the 15:23 mark of the first half, before the Mustangs answered with an 11-0 run capped by a Zager layup to take a 20-10 lead with 11 minutes left in the opening half.

The Mustangs continued to pour it on and pushed the lead to 39-17 with six minutes remaining, before taking the 22-point lead into halftime.

Brett Ervin led UMD with 22 points on 8 of 10 shooting.

Tonight was also the final home regular season game for SMSU seniors Carlson, Sussenguth and Dalston Jones.
