The Southwest Minnesota State University women's basketball team will continue action on the road this weekend as the Mustangs will face-off against Northern State on Friday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. and MSU Moorhead on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 4 p.m. The Mustangs are fresh off their 66-52 win over Sioux Falls on Tuesday, Jan. 15 - the first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference victory of the 2012-13 season.

Despite shooting a season-high 55.1 percent – its highest since Jan. 4, 2011 versus MSU Moorhead, the Southwest Minnesota State women's basketball team dropped its ninth straight contest to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference foe St. Cloud State, 77-70. The score was knotted at 70 with 2:43 remaining but the Mustangs failed to score for the rest of the ballgame and the Huskies finished with a 7-0 run to take its fifth straight contest over SMSU dating back to Dec. 10, 2010.
SMSU fell to Minnesota Duluth 62-50 on Saturday night in NSIC. The loss was SMSU's tenth straight dating back to Nov. 25, 2012. SMSU lost 11 straight contests last season stretching from Jan. 7, 2012 to Feb. 11, 2012. SMSU committed 19 turnovers but shot a solid 46.5 percent from the floor in the loss.
SMSU snapped its 10-game losing streak with a 66-52 victory over the University of Sioux Falls in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women's basketball on Tuesday night. The victory for SMSU (2-13, 1-9 NSIC) was its first in NSIC play and snapped a 14-game road losing streak, dating back to Jan. 20, 2012. Sioux Falls defeated SMSU earlier this season 77-66 in the NSIC opener on Dec. 1.
