THIS WEEK – The Southwest Minnesota State University baseball team embarks on its annual spring trip on Saturday afternoon playing eight games in seven days at the Tucson Invitational in Tucson, Ariz. All eight games will be played at the Kino Sports Complex.
SMSU (3-3-1) begins the week on Saturday with a 4 p.m. CST game versus NAIA Arizona Christian (9-11). On Sunday, SMSU will take on Minot State in a doubleheader starting at 3:30 p.m. CDT. It will be the only doubleheader for SMSU during the week.
SMSU battles Dickinson State (N.D.) on Monday starting at 12 p.m. before meeting up with Minot State again on Tuesday at 12 p.m.
SMSU plays Bemidji State on both Wednesday and Thursday afternoon, before concluding the trip on Friday, March 15, versus Dordt (Iowa).
SMSU will be playing Arizona Christian and Dickinson State for the first time in school history. SMSU leads 3-2 all-time versus Minot State, but the teams haven't met since 1980. SMSU is 89-57 all-time versus Bemidji State and 2-2 all-time versus Dordt.
