THIS WEEK - The Southwest Minnesota State University baseball team (10-20-1, 5-11 NSIC) resumes Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play this week with six road games. SMSU will play Concordia-St. Paul (12-10, 5-5 NSIC) on Thursday at Minnetonka High School with a doubleheader beginning at 9 a.m. The twin bill was originally scheduled for Wednesday in St. Paul, but was moved to Thursday due to poor field conditions. On Saturday and Sunday, SMSU is scheduled to take on Northern State (13-19, 6-12 NSIC) in a pair of doubleheaders in Aberdeen, S.D. An official announcement will be made later this week on where the games will be played. NSU plays two games at Winona State on Wednesday prior to taking on SMSU.
SERIES HISTORY - Southwest Minnesota State leads Concordia-St. Paul 17-16 in a series that started in 1981. The teams met earlier this season at the Metrodome on Feb. 27 with SMSU earning an 8-7 come-from-behind non-conference victory. The second game was called due to time limit with CU leading 3-1 in the sixth inning. The teams played eight times last season with CU winning five times. The teams split four games last season, splitting a non-conference doubleheader at the Metrodome and splitting a conference doubleheader in Marshall.
