THIS WEEK - The Southwest Minnesota State University baseball team (10-20-1, 5-11 NSIC) resumes Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play this week with six road games.  SMSU will play Concordia-St. Paul (12-10, 5-5 NSIC) on Thursday at Minnetonka High School with a doubleheader beginning at 9 a.m. The twin bill was originally scheduled for Wednesday in St. Paul, but was moved to Thursday due to poor field conditions.  On Saturday and Sunday, SMSU is scheduled to take on Northern State (13-19, 6-12 NSIC) in a pair of doubleheaders in Aberdeen, S.D.  An official announcement will be made later this week on where the games will be played.  NSU plays two games at Winona State on Wednesday prior to taking on SMSU.

SERIES HISTORY - Southwest Minnesota State leads Concordia-St. Paul 17-16 in a series that started in 1981.  The teams met earlier this season at the Metrodome on Feb. 27 with SMSU earning an 8-7 come-from-behind non-conference victory.  The second game was called due to time limit with CU leading 3-1 in the sixth inning.  The teams played eight times last season with CU winning five times.  CU won three of four games played in Tucson, Ariz., before the teams split a four-game NSIC series in St. Paul, Minn.  SMSU head coach Paul Blanchard is 13-16 all-time versus Concordia-St. Paul ... Southwest Minnesota State leads Northern State 82-33 in a series that started in 1979.  The teams split four games last season, splitting a non-conference doubleheader at the Metrodome and splitting a conference doubleheader in Marshall.  SMSU is 19-6 in the series since the 2005 season and is scheduled to play in Aberdeen for the first time since the 2008 season.  Blanchard is 44-11 all-time versus Northern State.

MUSTANG TRENDS - Senior Kyle Young leads the team with a .393 batting average and has collected a team-high 14 multi-hit games ... Junior Jarred Carlson is tied for the team-lead with 23 RBIs and leads the club with seven multi-RBI games ... Senior Brian Ness is tied for the team-lead with 23 RBIs and is batting .349 ... Ness has 11 multi-hit games and six multi-RBI games ... Ness tied a career-high with four hits at Augustana on March 30 ... Sophomore Jon Ellis is on a current 12-game hitting streak, the longest by any SMSU player this season ...  Senior Corby McGlauflin and sophomore Eric Giddings lead the team with 11 pitching appearances ... Freshman Travis McGlauflin has two victories and leads the team with 24 strikeouts ... SMSU has been outscored 42-10 in the first inning and a combined 65-30 in the first two innings ... SMSU is just 3 for 14 (.214) with the bases loaded, while opponents are 10 for 28 (.357) ... SMSU is 8-1 when leading after five innings, 8-0 when leading after six innings, 5-0 when leading after seven and 6-0 when leading after eight.
