THIS WEEK - The Southwest Minnesota State University baseball team (12-22-1, 7-13 NSIC) looks to keep its hopes alive of making the eight-team Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament with six big Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference games play this week to conclude the regular season. SMSU will play at Bemidji State (20-16, 11-9 NSIC) on Wednesday afternoon with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. SMSU will then conclude the regular season with four home games versus Minnesota Crookston (1-36, 1-23 NSIC) on Friday and Saturday at Alumni Field. Friday's doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m., while Saturday's doubleheader will start at 12 p.m.
FEWEST HOME GAMES - Southwest Minnesota State has yet to play a home game this season and even if SMSU plays its four games this weekend in Marshall, it won't be the fewest home games ever played in one season. During the 2001 season, SMSU did no play a single NSIC game at home and played just two home games total, a pair of non-conference games versus Augustana.
SERIES HISTORY - Southwest Minnesota State leads Bemidji State 90-58 in a series that started in 1970. The teams met earlier this season in Tucson, Ariz., with SMSU earning an 11-9 victory on March 13, but BSU rallied with an 8-5 victory on March 14.
