MSU Moorhead too much for SMSU

Haley Thomforde, Morgan Zabel and Megan Strese all scored double-digits to lead Minnesota State University Moorhead to a 70-52 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference victory over Southwest Minnesota State University on Saturday. The loss was SMSU's tenth straight loss.

MSU Moorhead (8-4, 4-4 NSIC) shot 46.4 percent from the floor and hit 14 of 19 free throws attempted. The Mustangs (2-10, 0-8 NSIC) could not keep pace as the Mustangs finished 22 of 60 (36.7%) from the floor, including 5 of 19 from behind the arc.

The Mustangs were led by Bree Holleman's 11 points, five rebounds and three assists in 33 minutes on the court. Ellen Degler chipped in with 10 points off the bench as she finished 5 of 8 from the floor.

MSUM grabbed 42 rebounds in the game as the Dragons held a 42-29 rebound advantage over SMSU.

SMSU has now suffered losing streaks of 10 games in each of the last three seasons.

SMSU will look to end the streak next weekend on the road versus St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth.
