MARSHALL, Minn. - Southwest Minnesota State University took nine bout victories to score a season-high 42 points in its 42-3 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference victory over Northern State on Friday. With the win SMSU improves to 11-5 overall, 5-2 in the NSIC.
SMSU won nine straight to begin the match and was only tripped up in the 197-pound bout as
Micah Larson fell 4-1 to NSU's Joe Gomez.

Jacob Begin (174) all scored bonus point victories to go along with SMSU's pair of forfeits at 125 and 184.
Kyle Begin recorded his team-leading 12th pin of the season when he defeated Blake Lundgren by fall at 4:55.
Jacob Begin followed suit in his 174-pound bout but quicker as Begin pinned his opponent at 2:27.
Codie Lane ended his eight-bout losing skid with a 6-4 win over Sean Havlovic to improve to 10-15 on the season.
Cole Wilson ended the night on a high note for the Mustangs as the 285-pounder took home a 10-2 major decision to capture his 20th victory of the season. Wilson joins Reinsma and Kyle
Begin in the 20-win club this season.
Jacob Begin (18-6) and
Andrew Rodas (15-8) are within striking distance with one bout to go plus regional action.
SMSU will break for 15 days, but will close-out the regular season at home on Feb. 22, versus
U-Mary.
